Minister Kacır Evaluated the Economic Situation of Least Developed Countries at the UN
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated at a UN meeting in New York that 44 countries account for only 1 percent of the global economy despite making up 14 percent of the world's population.
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır shared striking data on global inequalities and least developed countries at the High-Level Dialogue on the LDC-GIF Mechanism held in New York within the scope of the 81st UN General Assembly.

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır hosted an important meeting in New York, where he is attending the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The High-Level Dialogue on the Least Developed Countries Facilitating Green Industrialization Mechanism was held at the United Nations Headquarters.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum was also present at the meeting.
Additionally, Turkey’s UN FAO Director-General Candidate Mehmet Mehdi Eker and Zero Waste President Samed Ağırbaş participated in the meeting.
Striking Economic Data
Minister Kacır stated that 44 countries worldwide still remain in the least developed country category and that this situation is unsustainable.
He noted that the total population of these countries is 1.2 billion, constituting approximately 14 percent of the world's population.
Share of the Global Economy
It was emphasized that these 44 countries, which make up a significant portion of the world's population, receive a share of only 1 percent from the global economy.
Category Transition Process
It was reported that in the 55 years since the definition of least developed countries was established, only 8 countries have been able to graduate from this category.
COP31 Summit and Targets
Within the scope of the COP31 summit that Turkey will host in Antalya, the green transition processes of the least developed countries will be addressed.
Perspectives on industry, technology development, and green industrialization will be evaluated as priorities.
Technology Bank Cooperation
Cooperation will be carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology with the United Nations Technology Bank, which continues to be hosted by Turkey.
It was stated that support will be provided to the industrialization processes of the least developed countries under the leadership of this institution.
