Missouri Preschoolers Become Reporters for World News Day

Students at The Goddard School preschool in Liberty, Missouri, stepped into the role of reporters for a morning as part of World News Day. The children learned about journalism and the weather, and conducted an enjoyable interview with KCTV5 reporter Morgan Riddell.

Preschool students at The Goddard School in Liberty, Missouri, took on the role of reporters during a special school event to celebrate World News Day. For one morning, the young students learned the basics of newspaper writing, meteorology, and interviewing techniques.

Becca Bricker, the school's educational director, stated that this special day provided an opportunity for children to understand the importance of news and why their parents watch the news. Bricker noted that the students connected the concept of news particularly through major life events such as tornado warnings.

Dreams for the Future

During the lessons, the students also had the opportunity to discuss storms and weather events. When asked what they want to be when they grow up, most of the children dreamed of becoming firefighters and police officers, while one student stated they wanted to be a scientist.
