Montclair State University Continues Its Rise in the 2027 University Rankings

The 2027 Best Colleges list published by U.S. News & World Report announced the achievements of Montclair State University and the University of California, Riverside (UC) in various categories.

U.S. News & World Report officially published the eagerly awaited 2027 Best Colleges list on September 22, 2026. This comprehensive ranking list showcased the academic and social achievements of various higher education institutions across the United States.

Montclair State University's Rankings

Montclair State University achieved significant success in the area of social mobility at the national level, ranking 13th nationwide. The university also improved its rankings in the national public institutions, best value schools, and overall national universities categories.

UC Riverside's Social Mobility Success

UC Riverside once again claimed the top spot in the national rankings for the social mobility category, sharing first place with Florida International University. The university has been ranked first in six out of the eight years this category has existed, and second in the other two years.

Montclair State University President Jonathan Koppell evaluated the university's rankings and its commitment to educational access and excellence. UC Riverside Chancellor S. Jack Hu also made statements regarding the institution's vision focused on academic excellence and accessibility.
