Netanyahu's Remarks on Qatar and Defense of Gaza Funds

In a television broadcast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Qatar as an enemy state and boasted about bombing it, while defending the transfer of funds to Gaza as having been made entirely for humanitarian purposes upon the recommendation of security agencies.

Statements Targeting Qatar

In an interview with the i24NEWS channel shared on social media on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defined Qatar as an enemy state.

Netanyahu explicitly boasted about carrying out attacks against Qatar during the war and bombing the country.

Past Doha Attack

These developments came days ahead of the first anniversary of Israel's strike in Doha, which resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer.

Qatar had condemned the airstrike, which took place while a US-backed ceasefire proposal was being discussed, as a clear violation of international law.

Funds Transferred to Gaza

During the interview, Netanyahu also shed light on the issue of millions of dollars in Qatari funds transferred to Gaza, which Israel had facilitated.

Defending that this money was sent entirely for humanitarian purposes, the prime minister stated that the transfers were made upon the recommendation of Israeli security agencies such as Mossad and Shin Bet.

Upcoming General Elections

Netanyahu's controversial statements came weeks before Israeli voters are set to go to the polls on October 27 for the first general elections since the war began.
