Omani Pilot Who Tried To Crash Plane Didn't Have Dual Citizenship: Report

It has been announced that the Omani co-pilot, who allegedly attempted to crash a flydubai flight operating to Tel Aviv, does not hold any second citizenship. Reports based on investigative sources confirmed that the pilot holds solely Omani nationality.

Citizenship Status Clarified

According to reports based on sources conducting the investigation, the Omani co-pilot accused of attempting to crash flydubai flight FZ1073 to Tel Aviv does not have a second nationality. This circumstance also dispelled allegations questioning the pilot's assignment to a route operating flights to Israel.

Flight Agreements and Diplomatic Relations

There are no official diplomatic relations between Israel and Oman, and Omani citizens are required to obtain a visa before entering the country. On the other hand, the bilateral aviation agreement between the two countries does not mandate that pilots hold the citizenship of nations having diplomatic relations with Israel.

Netanyahu's Statement on Radicalization

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Omani pilot had undergone a process of Islamist radicalization and exhibited suicidal tendencies. It was stated that it was still too early to determine any Iranian connections to the pilot.

Cockpit Struggle and Rescue Moment

As the aircraft was cruising at 34,000 feet, a struggle erupted in the cockpit resulting in a sudden drop. With bloodied Captain Smit Machchhar opening the door lock, passengers and crew neutralized the co-pilot.
