Disappearance of the Ferry

The passenger ferry named Virgo Transport 8 encountered severe weather in the Java Sea while en route from Surabaya to the city of Banjarmasin in southern Kalimantan.

Search and Rescue Operations

Following the loss of communication with the ferry, a search and rescue operation was launched, and rescue vessels and a helicopter were dispatched to the area. All vessels in the region were also alerted.

Rescued Passengers and Situation

Out of a total capacity of 243 people for the voyage, 102 people have been rescued alive so far, and one person was reported dead. Efforts to locate missing passengers are ongoing.
