PAU Hospitals Strengthen Patient Safety Culture
Pamukkale University Hospitals continue their sustainable quality efforts to enhance patient safety in healthcare services and prevent risks.
Pamukkale University Hospitals Quality Director Prof. Dr. Atakan Yılmaz emphasized that patient safety is one of the institution's core responsibilities and made statements regarding risk management and a culture of continuous improvement.
Core Responsibility and Quality Approach
Pamukkale University Hospitals view patient safety as an inseparable and fundamental element of the healthcare services provided. Safe, efficient, and patient-centered services are delivered in line with Health Quality Standards and Health Accreditation Standards.
Creating a healthy working environment, using resources effectively, and ensuring service continuity constitute the fundamental building blocks of the institutional quality approach.
Risk Management and Preventive Measures
Patient safety is addressed not merely as intervening in an error after it occurs, but as identifying and analyzing risks before they emerge.
Preventive practices are developed in risk areas such as medication errors, surgical processes, patient falls, and infections to prevent harm to the patient.
Emergency Situations and Learning Opportunities
Emergency applications such as the Blue Code and Pink Code are carried out in a coordinated manner to minimize the impact of risks that cannot be completely eliminated.
Near-miss events and adverse occurrences are evaluated as important learning opportunities to improve the system and prevent the recurrence of similar situations.
National and International Standards
Prof. Dr. Atakan Yılmaz stated that they have adopted the vision of the World Health Organization's 2021-2030 Global Patient Safety Action Plan.
The institution continues its work with determination in accordance with the Turkish Ministry of Health's Turkish Healthcare Quality System.
