Petkim Agrees with World-Leading Companies to Increase Production Capacity
Aiming to establish new facilities within the scope of the master plan project, the company has allocated a large resource for engineering studies.
Petkim has signed official agreements with the world's leading technology and engineering companies for new ethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene plants as part of its master plan project aimed at increasing production capacity in the petrochemical sector.
Engineering Studies Have Begun
Moving to a new phase in its master plan project aimed at increasing production capacity, Petkim sat down with world-leading companies and signed significant agreements.
While a total of 70 million dollars has been allocated for the engineering studies of the project, this entire process is targeted to be completed by the end of 2027.
Collaboration with Global Companies
The company, which is at the center of SOCAR's investments in Turkey, signed pre-engineering and technology license agreements with Technip Energies following the memorandum of understanding in July.
Additionally, official agreements were reached with Univation Technologies for polyethylene production and Lummus Novolen Technology for polypropylene production.
Major Increase in Production Capacity
Following the completion of the ongoing studies and the final investment decision, major leaps are projected in the company's existing production capacities.
It is targeted to increase the ethylene capacity, which is 558 thousand tons annually, to 1.2 million tons, and the polypropylene capacity, which is 145 thousand tons, to 550 thousand tons.
Investment in the Future and Competitiveness
Petkim General Manager and SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemical Business Unit Head Kanan Mirzayev emphasized that the resource allocated for the FEED process is an investment made in the future.
Mirzayev stated that they aim for the project to meet Turkey's long-term needs in the petrochemical field and to increase the company's competitiveness through refinery integration.
