The Process of Returning to the White House
Attempting to enter the White House on Thursday morning ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit, reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were initially turned away by the Secret Service.
Following this initial obstruction, the journalists were finally admitted to the building by midday, with reporters from other news outlets offering support during live broadcasts.
Legal Battle and Justifications
CNN, MS NOW, and Politico requested an emergency hearing and filed a joint lawsuit after their reporters were not allowed inside despite the judge's ruling.
The Department of Justice had argued that President Trump possesses the authority to control reporters' access to restricted presidential areas such as the Oval Office.
