Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia had struck airports in Kyiv and the nearby town of Boryspil ahead of the visit. Zelenskyy noted that these attacks were a reaction to discussions regarding the US side using airplanes to travel to Ukraine.
