Russia Launches Jet-Powered Drone Attack on Kyiv Petrol Stations

Petrol stations in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, have been struck by targeted Russian attacks carried out using jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles. At least two people lost their lives and twelve others were injured in the strikes launched on Friday morning.

Casualties of the Attacks

According to a statement by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least two people were killed and twelve others were injured in strikes that hit two separate petrol stations in the early hours of Friday morning.

An explosion at the Ukrnafta station in the Pochaina neighborhood left three people injured, while local officials confirmed that a double-tap strike was carried out on the same facility.

Targeted Facilities

It was determined that all of these carried-out attacks specifically targeted facilities operated by the state-owned oil and gas company Ukrnafta.

Sergiy Fedorenko, the acting head of Ukrnafta's parent company Naftogaz, strongly condemned the events, describing them as acts of terror directed against the civilian population.

Social Media Lists

It was revealed that a list containing 18 petrol stations in Kyiv expected to be targeted by Russian drones had circulated on the Telegram platform on Wednesday.

It was established that all three petrol stations hit so far were also included in this list published on social media.

Shelter Timing

At the other targeted station in the Desnianskyi district, staff and customers reportedly managed to reach a shelter just in time.

Stepping up its attacks on petrol stations across Ukraine in recent months, Russia targeted facilities in the capital for the first time this week.
