Russia Retaliates Against Germany by Closing Cultural Centers

Russia has announced it will terminate the operations of German cultural centers in the country in response to Germany shutting down its institutions due to a drone initiative at the Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Closure of Cultural Centers
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Thursday that German cultural centers in the country would be closed. It was stated that this decision was taken in response to similar steps by the Berlin administration.
Goethe-Institut Centers Targeted
It was reported that cultural centers belonging to Germany's Goethe-Institut in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg will be closed. Officials stated that failing to take this decision would constitute a lack of self-respect.
Airport Drone Incident
Last month, an explosive-laden drone was found near a Ukrainian plane at Leipzig/Halle Airport and was subsequently neutralized. This cargo hub plays a critical role in support shipments to Ukraine.
Tensions Between Moscow and Berlin
Western officials accuse Moscow of conducting sabotage campaigns in Europe aimed at creating instability and undermining support for Ukraine. Russia denies these accusations.
