Russian Attacks on Ukraine Leave Eight Dead

Russian drone and missile attacks targeting Ukraine's capital Kyiv and northeastern regions killed eight people. The strikes damaged a maternity hospital, a farm, numerous civilian structures, and residential homes.
Casualties in Kyiv and Kharkiv
According to official statements, two people were killed and eight others were injured in recent attacks on the capital Kyiv. In a separate attack on a vegetable storage facility in a village in the northeastern Kharkiv region, six people lost their lives and twelve others were injured.
Maternity Hospital and Civilian Infrastructure Damaged
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that one of the deaths occurred in the parking lot of a maternity hospital. As a result of the explosions, part of the hospital's facade, windows, and doors were damaged. Additionally, nine houses, a post office building, warehouses, and dozens of vehicles sustained damage.
Midnight Intense Barrage
The Ukrainian air force reported that the overnight attacks included hypersonic and ballistic missiles, as well as a large number of drones and various weapons. Officials in the Rivne and Volyn regions also reported infrastructure damages.
International Reactions and Missile Supply Agreement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, demanded a stronger response from the international community and the provision of ballistic interceptors. Zelenskiy also announced that an agreement had been reached to procure missiles for the Patriot system.
Airspace Violations in Neighboring Countries
Following the attacks, it was reported that four Russian drones violated airspace on the Moldovan border and at least one detonated. While it was announced that a drone crashed on the Romanian border, NATO member Poland also scrambled fighter jets twice due to the attacks.
