Saudi Arabia Plans Military Operation Against Houthis in Yemen
It has been reported that a new military operation is being prepared against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen to ensure the security of trade routes in the Red Sea.
According to information provided by regional and Western officials, Saudi Arabia is planning a comprehensive offensive to break the control of the Houthis in Yemen over the Bab el-Mandeb strait and secure the Red Sea shipping route.
Main Objective of the Operation
The primary target of the Saudi-led military movement is to reverse the control seized by the Houthis over the Bab el-Mandeb strait. This move aims to re-establish the security of shipping lanes in the Red Sea.
Military Strategy and Force Distribution
The operation, expected to be launched in the coming weeks, will be carried out by Yemeni forces on the ground under the supervision of the Riyadh administration and with the support of Saudi airstrikes. Depending on the scale of the operation, it is stated that more than one hundred thousand Yemeni soldiers could be mobilized.
Role and Support of Allies
While the United States is providing intelligence support for the operation, some regional and European countries are providing defensive military aid. Despite this, allied countries are not expected to take direct roles in combat.
