South Korean Pilots Take Top Two Spots in World Drone Championship

South Korean pilots secured the top two positions at the World Drone Championship held at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport as part of TEKNOFEST. Following the final races, Choi Wonkyun won first place, Kim Minjae second place, and Bulgarian pilot Dimo Shterev claimed third place.

Details of the Championship

The Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, TEKNOFEST, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation, continues at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport. The World Drone Championship, which started on October 1 within the scope of the event, saw participation from 32 countries.

Fierce Competition

Competitors raced with high-speed FPV drones of their own design and assembly. The fiercely contested battles concluded with last night's final race.

Ranked Names

As a result of the evaluations, South Korean drone pilots Choi Wonkyun finished first and Kim Minjae finished second. Bulgarian pilot Dimo Shterev completed the championship in third place.

Award Ceremony

The successful pilots who ranked in the competition received their trophies from TEKNOF_EST Chairman of the Board Selçuk Bayraktar and Presidency's Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün.

The Champion's Statements

Choi Wonkyun, who achieved first place, stated that he worked very hard to prepare for the competition and thanked his coach and everyone who supported him. Choi expressed his desire to return next year to defend his title.

Second and Third Place Evaluations

Kim Minjae, who came in second, said he was sad to have missed the chance for first place but would do better next time. Dimo Shterev, who finished third, shared that finishing third in the finals was satisfying for him and that he is aiming for first place next year.
