Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that a major stage of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train Line, one of Turkey's critical railway projects opening up to Europe, has been completed. Travel and transport times will decrease significantly with the project.

Opening Date and Participation

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the 153-kilometer Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train Line will enter service on October 9 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Transportation to the European Border

With the commissioning of the line, Turkey's high-speed train network will be seamlessly extended directly to Kapıkule, which is the European border.

Contribution to the Thrace Region

The Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section will serve in both passenger and freight transport. Thanks to the project, the provinces of Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, and Edirne will be integrated into the high-speed train network, bringing this comfort to the Thrace region.

Time Restrictions and Capacity

When the project is completed, the passenger travel time between Halkalı and Kapıkule will decrease from 4 hours to 1.5 hours. Meanwhile, freight transport time will drop from 8.5 hours to 3.5 hours, and the annual passenger capacity is projected to reach approximately 3 million.
