In the Times Square area of New York, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros stabbed two people and was killed as a result of police fire. While a woman injured in the incident lost her life at the hospital, a man was taken into treatment.
Moments of Terror in Times Square
A random stabbing attack took place during the afternoon hours in Times Square, one of the most crowded spots in New York. Eyewitnesses and law enforcement officials at the scene reported that the suspect threatened people around her with knives in her hand.
Two People Targeted
Attacking people around her with two knives she took out of a red bag, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros targeted two people twenty seconds apart. First injuring a 68-year-old man, the attacker then stabbed a 32-year-old woman in the abdomen.
Police Intervention and Confrontation
Continuing to walk along Seventh Avenue after the attacks, the suspect was tried to be stopped by police teams. Resisting the teams' calls to drop her weapons for four minutes, the suspect continued to attack the police.
Past Health Issues
Authorities stated that the attacker had a history of mental health issues recorded with the police in the past, but no criminal record. It was disclosed that the suspect hurled threats at the police during the attack and that a taser was ineffective.
