Strait of Hormuz and Peace Proposal
US President Donald Trump claimed that he rejected a seven-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and that the opposing side wants a deal because they are in a bad position.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for a negotiated solution, noting that they are awaiting a definitive US response through Qatar and Pakistan.
Regional Developments and Nuclear Stance
While the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen targeted the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, a newspaper report alleged that Trump expects to continue a bombing campaign following the early November midterm elections.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized in his speech at the UN General Assembly that as long as US sanctions continue, they will not allow freedom of navigation in the strait and will not give up their right to develop nuclear technology.
