The National Team's Performance and Tournament Process in 2026
The year 2026, which began with the national team securing a World Cup ticket after 24 years, turned into a difficult period marked by defeats and failures in the Nations League.
Although the National Team made a hopeful start to 2026 by participating in the World Cup, it experienced a difficult process by failing to achieve the desired results in the tournament and the UEFA Nations League.
The Road to the World Cup
The National Team managed to defeat Romania in the European Qualifiers play-off semi-final and then Kosovo in the final.
Thanks to these victories, the national team made a very successful start to the year by securing a World Cup visa after a 24-year hiatus.
World Cup Adventure
In the World Cup, which it attended after a long break, the Crescent-Stars left the field with defeats against Australia and Paraguay.
Despite securing a victory against the host USA, the nationals could not escape being eliminated from the tournament and returned to our country.
Struggling in the UEFA Nations League
Competing in UEFA Nations League League A for the first time in its history, the National Team faced a very tough test in this arena.
Leaving all four matches they played with defeats, the nationals fell behind expectations during this process.
General Match Balance Sheet
In a total of seven official matches played during 2026, our nationals experienced defeat six times.
Tasting the joy of victory only once, the National Team left a troubled period behind with these results throughout the year.
