Trump called on Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that a choice must be made between a negotiated settlement or a swift outcome.

Unexpected US-Iran Contact

President Trump stated that his chief envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Iranian officials behind the scenes and that this encounter went very positively.

Previously, Secretary of State Marco Rubio had also stated that Trump is open to meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Greenland Security Agreement

Continuing his diplomatic contacts following his speech, Trump met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

The leaders signed a new security agreement providing for the United States to establish a larger military presence in Greenland and construct two major military bases.

As part of the UN sessions, Trump held bilateral meetings with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
