With less than 48 hours remaining until the annual BRICS summit in New Delhi, China has not yet made an official statement regarding the potential visit of President Xi Jinping to the country, and uncertainty remains over whether the leaders will meet.

Uncertainty Ahead of the Summit

Although less than forty-eight hours remain before the annual BRICS summit in New Delhi, the Chinese side has not yet shared official information regarding the participation of President Xi Jinping.

Chinese foreign ministry officials stated that they do not have any official information regarding the plans, avoiding a clear statement on the leader's possible visit and a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Relations Between the Two Countries

Despite past border clashes, commercial and diplomatic relations between the two countries have continued to develop in recent years.

Following the clashes in 2020, India has moved to ease some of the restrictions it imposed on Chinese investments in sectors such as electronics, capital goods, and solar cells.

Increasing Trade Volume

The bilateral trade volume between the two countries increased by 12.4 percent last year, reaching 155 billion dollars.

In the first seven months of the current year, the trade volume recorded a 23 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

Trust Deficit and Expectations

Experts note that despite progress in the diplomatic arena, businesses still face obstacles due to regulations, visa delays, and industrial equipment restrictions.
