US Aircraft Carrier USS Abraham Lincoln Arriving at Thailand's Pattaya Port

Returning to its home country after an extended deployment in the Middle East, the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is preparing to make a port visit off the coast of Thailand's tourism city Pattaya with more than five thousand sailor personnel.

Major Visit to Pattaya Port

Having completed its mission in the Middle East, the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is preparing to dock at a port in Thailand's Chonburi province. More than five thousand American military personnel on board are expected to visit Pattaya.

Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet stated that they hope this port visit will bring significant vitality to the local economy. It was also stated that the destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. will dock at a different port.

Security and Warnings from Officials

Meeting with US officials on Monday, Mayor Poramet announced that military personnel have been barred from certain recreational activities such as parasailing and cannabis use.

Local government officials warned local merchants against overcharging American sailors. Security measures are planned to be increased around Pattaya Beach and Walking Street.

Security Measures and Regional Shift

City Police Chief Anek Srathongyoo reported that law enforcement officers have been instructed to step up security measures to prevent any adverse situations.

In early August, the USS George Washington, which normally operates in the Asian region, had replaced the Lincoln, which had long been deployed in the Middle East. Thai officials noted that the Lincoln will return to the US following its visit here.
