US Central Command strikes three Iranian oil tankers
Following the firing of missiles at American warships by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, US forces conducted an operation in the region.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that three Iranian oil tankers were struck on September 5, following a ballistic missile attack by forces belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against two American warships.
Attack on Warships
According to a statement by the US Central Command, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted two American warships patrolling regional waters by firing ballistic missiles.
It was reported that the targeted American warships successfully evaded multiple Iranian attacks and that no American personnel were harmed in the incident.
Stern Warning from CENTCOM
Making statements following the attacks, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper emphasized that they would not hesitate to defend American forces.
Delivering a clear message to the Iranian side, Cooper stated that if fire is opened on two ships, three ships would be targeted, imposing a higher economic cost.
Targeted Tankers
Military officials stated that crude oil carriers named M/T Downy off Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask were permanently disabled.
It was announced that an empty oil carrier located in the Gulf of Oman, also known as M/T Kylo and Noxen, was completely destroyed.
Details of the Operation
It was noted that after ensuring the crew on the vessel named M/T Kylo abandoned ship, the boat was struck at critical points and rendered inoperable.
It was stated that the three struck Iranian oil tankers were part of a multi-billion-dollar shadow network financing the Revolutionary Guard and its regional proxies.
