Worker Survives and Is Rescued from Tunnel 10 Days After Nepal Floods

Ten days after a deadly flood disaster in Nepal, joint search and rescue teams successfully rescued a Chinese national worker trapped alive in a hydroelectric tunnel, as search efforts continue in the region.
Miraculous Rescue from the Tunnel
Search and rescue teams in Nepal managed to pull a Chinese national worker alive from a hydroelectric tunnel 10 days after the deadly flood disaster.
With this latest rescue operation, the total number of workers rescued alive from the Trishuli hydroelectric project has risen to three.
Joint Rescue Operation
A joint rescue team consisting of the Nepalese army, Nepalese military personnel, and South Korean disaster experts reportedly extracted the man from a tunnel approximately 225 meters long.
The rescued Chinese worker was evacuated by helicopter, during which he underwent a health check by a military paramedic in flight.
Death Toll of the Flood Disaster
At least 1,300 people lost their lives in the disaster that occurred on August 26, which was likely caused by a glacier collapse.
According to statements from the disaster management agency, more than 5,000 people are known to be missing as search efforts continue.
Situation in Hydroelectric Projects
It is estimated that around 900 workers from 12 hydroelectric projects across the country are missing, and about 500 of them are trapped in various tunnels.
