YÖK Calls on Universities for Academic Mobilization for a Terror-Free Turkey

In line with the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey, the Council of Higher Education sent an official letter to all rectorates, inviting higher education institutions to an academic and scientific mobilization.
General Assembly Decision and Official Letter
An official letter was sent to all rectorates within the scope of the Terror-Free Turkey goal, which was discussed at the meeting of the General Assembly of Higher Education on August 27, 2026. The sent letter emphasized that work must be done to rid the country of terrorism and violence.
Emphasis on Brotherhood by Erol Özvar
In the letter sent with the signature of YÖK President Erol Özvar, it was stated that universities are spaces of brotherhood. Özvar expressed that the pains experienced can be alleviated by building a common future, and shared his feelings of gratitude for the martyrs and veterans.
Academic Expertise and Priorities
Universities were requested to contribute to the process in line with their academic capabilities and priorities such as scientific research, panels, and workshops. The academy is expected to lead in strengthening the environment of social peace with all its accumulated knowledge.
