YÖK Directive to Universities for a Terror-Free Turkey
The Council of Higher Education requested that the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey be addressed in academic events at the opening of the new academic year.
With an official letter sent by the Council of Higher Education to all universities, it was requested that the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey, set forth by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, be addressed in the opening ceremonies, first lectures, and various academic events of the 2026-2027 academic year.
Official Letter Sent to Universities
The Council of Higher Education sent an official letter to all universities ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year. The letter requested that the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey, set forth by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, be addressed in higher education institutions.
Multidimensional Academic Approach
The letter requested that the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey be comprehensively addressed with the contributions of different disciplines. It was emphasized that the issue should be evaluated in its social, economic, legal, political, cultural, and security dimensions.
Scientific Knowledge and Research
It was stated that universities should actively contribute to this social process with their scientific knowledge, research capacity, and strong academic background. In this regard, YÖK requested that the necessary sensitivity be shown.
Opening Ceremonies and First Lectures
With the beginning of the new term, instructions were given to process the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey during the 2026-2027 academic year opening ceremonies and first lectures.
Panels and Workshops to be Organized
Universities were requested to conduct academic studies on the subject and organize scientific events such as panels, conferences, and workshops.
Social Integration and Awareness
These planned events aim to increase students' awareness of the issue. At the same time, it is targeted to contribute to strengthening the environment of social peace and security.
National Unity and Solidarity
The academic studies to be carried out are expected to make significant contributions to the reinforcement of national unity and solidarity as well as social integration. YÖK envisions that the process will be carried out in line with these objectives.
