The case of 20-year-old Furkan Coşkun, who was beaten and forced into a vehicle in front of his house in Mersin on October 9, 2016, and has not been heard from since, is being retaken by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under the charge of 'intentional homicide'.

The development that led to the deepening of the investigation was a broadcast made by suspect E.K. on a social media platform on May 7, 2022. In the broadcast, E.K. claimed that Furkan Coşkun made inappropriate remarks about him and his family, and therefore confessed that they warned and beat Coşkun. However, the suspect claimed that he had no knowledge of what happened to Coşkun after the beating incident.

Examinations on the file drew attention to contradictions in E.K.'s statements to the court. It was determined that the suspect stated in one statement that he saw Coşkun, and stated in a later statement that he did not see him. In addition, it was determined that some witnesses, who claimed to have seen Coşkun after the incident, were in contact with the suspects.

Procedures at the police station are ongoing for the suspects named E.K., M.M.Ş., S.K., İ.B., S.G., H.G., A.B., G.Ç., and B.Y., who are currently in prisons in different cities.
