Türkiye ile Çin arasında sosyal medya savaşı: Patrick Yıldız yüzünden başlayan kavga dünyaya yayıldı!

The humorous post debate between Turkish and Chinese users on the X platform, which began when the SpongeBob SquarePants character Patrick Star was associated with the Turkish flag, quickly reached an international dimension involving topics such as the Great Wall of China, the Göktürks, Uyghur Turks, and economic competition.

The process began on October 19 when a Chinese user posted an image showing the SpongeBob SquarePants character Patrick Star floating with a parachute next to the Turkish flag and asked whether the crescent and star of the flag were inspired by this character, to which Turkish users responded with humorous posts. In the debates, which soon began to be referred to as the "First Twitter War" and the "Turkey-China Meme War", the Great Wall of China and historical motifs came to the forefront.

The debate gained a political dimension as Chinese users objected to the identifications between modern Anatolian Turks and ancient steppe communities, turning into criticisms centered around East Turkestan and the Uyghurs. While Chinese users targeted the Turkish lira, Japanese, Taiwanese, and Azerbaijani users also became involved in the process. On the other hand, although it was claimed that artificial intelligence bots alleged to be of Chinese origin fueled the fight, there is no verified evidence regarding this situation.
