A world first from the Ukrainian army: Wounded soldier evacuated by drone
Ukraine's 92nd Separate Assault Brigade shared a video showing the evacuation of a wounded infantryman on the front lines using a heavy-duty hexacopter drone.
The Ukrainian army announced that a wounded soldier was evacuated from the front line using a heavy-duty drone due to intense enemy activity and mines rendering ground vehicles unusable.
In the video shared by Ukraine's 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, an unidentified infantryman was seen being secured to a large drone and evacuated at a low altitude. The brigade reported that traditional unmanned ground vehicle evacuations became impossible due to intense enemy drone activity and mines, marking the first time an aerial drone evacuation was attempted.
It was noted that the aircraft used in the operation was a heavy-duty hexacopter initially designed for bombing purposes by a Ukrainian manufacturer. Experts worked to ensure the drone could transport a human without tipping over or swaying excessively. Regarding the condition of the soldier, who is undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, the brigade's leader with the codelike name Napalm stated that the soldier demonstrated heroism.
