Artificial Intelligence Accelerates Data Analysis and Threat Detection in Military Intelligence
Assoc. Prof. Dr. David Hart from East Carolina University evaluated how artificial intelligence analyzes massive amounts of data in military intelligence to detect threats and emphasized the importance of human oversight.
Dr. David Hart, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at East Carolina University, explained how artificial intelligence is used in the field of military intelligence to analyze large volumes of data, identify potential threats, and support operations.
Pointing out that information is of vital importance for the military community in the Greenville and Pitt County region, Dr. David Hart stated that artificial intelligence helps humans find key details and organize information, but the final decision always remains with humans.
Stating that the Pentagon's Project Maven program uses artificial intelligence to sift through intelligence gathered from drones, satellites, and other surveillance systems, Hart emphasized that data analysis is one of the most practical use cases of this technology.
Conveying that the technology can complete tasks such as reading documents, organizing information, and creating visualizations in minutes instead of days, Hart noted that artificial intelligence does not replace human judgment and continues to be a tool guided by humans. Hart also stated that this technology can be applied in areas outside of military operations, such as healthcare and workforce needs.
