Bilimfest Trabzon Science Festival Opens Its Doors in Trabzon

Prepared in cooperation with the Trabzon Provincial Directorate of National Education and Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Program, BİLİMFEST TRABZON started with a ceremony at the Özdemir Bayraktar Science Center. Held on October 22-24, 2026, the organization aims to develop students' scientific thinking skills and bring the society together with technology.

The opening program held at the Özdemir Bayraktar Science Center was attended by Trabzon Governor Tahir Şahin, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, Karadeniz Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Trabzon University Rector Prof. Dr. Emin Aşıkkutlu, district mayors, AK Party Trabzon Provincial Chairman Dr. Sezgin Mumcu, Trabzon Provincial Director of National Education Hasan Uygun, and the provincial protocol. During the three-day event, approximately 200 different activities are organized in the fields of space, aviation, astronomy, astrophysics, and STEM.

Important institutions in the defense industry and technology fields, such as TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, ASELSAN, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI), and TÜBİTAK, take part in the festival. While domestic and national technology products are introduced to participants in the established exhibition areas, science talks, workshops, dramas, science shows, and interactive experiments are offered.

Speaking at the opening, Provincial Director of National Education Hasan Uygun emphasized that education does not just transfer knowledge, but aims to raise individuals who research and produce. The festival aims to contribute to the research and discovery processes by increasing the interest of children and youth in science.
