Canva announces Canva Craft, a new AI model with design planning capabilities
Canva has launched Canva Craft, a new two-stage AI model that plans designs before generating them. Offering 2K resolution support, the model promises higher precision and control.
Canva has introduced Canva Craft to its global users, positioning it as a competitor to AI models from giants like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. Managing the design process with a two-stage architecture, the model aims to provide higher precision in areas such as object placement and text readability by planning before generating the visual.
Canva Craft was trained on millions of human-made templates from the platform's own content library. Capable of generating images up to 2K resolution, the model offers over 30 different aspect ratio options. Promising a wide range of use cases from social media content to digital art and environmental visualizations, the system is currently accessible via the Dream Lab option.
Ranking fourth on the Design Arena leaderboard, the model comes with security and privacy controls. Canva plans to release faster 'Craft-fast' and 'Craft-ultrafast' versions in the future. Additionally, the company aims to enable the integration of AI agents into this system via the Model Context Protocol.
