The Center for International Maritime Security has issued a call for articles on the applications and dangers of artificial intelligence in the maritime domain.
The Center for International Maritime Security (CIMSEC) has issued a call for articles examining the applications, advantages, and dangers of artificial intelligence in the naval battlefield. The deadline for submissions has been set as January 18, 2027.
Announced by CIMSEC Managing Editor Brian Kerg, submissions for the article series are being accepted at Content@cimsec.org. While accepted articles are expected to be between 1,500 and 3,000 words in length, it was reported that the series will be published between February 15 and 19, 2027.
The announcement drew attention to the rapid spread of artificial intelligence in the maritime field, noting that AI expands operations ranging from autonomous swarm attacks in the Black Sea and the Red Sea to maintenance models. It was recalled that the U.S. Congress also harbors concerns regarding the unchecked use of military artificial intelligence and demands strict testing frameworks.
It was stated that authors can address topics such as technology, strategy, ethics, and policy, and must propose concrete solutions beyond risks.
