It has been stated that Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election in Brazil to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and his family will be issued US visas.

A senior US State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to visa confidentiality laws, stated that following the election defeat, Flávio Bolsonaro and his family would be granted US visas and permitted entry into the country. Bolsonaro, who had the support of Donald Trump, was under investigation in Brazil for corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion, and had been asked to surrender his passport.

In the elections, Lula da Silva received over 64 million votes, while Bolsonaro garnered under 60 million votes, losing the election by a margin of roughly 4 percent. As of Tuesday afternoon, when the deadline for Bolsonaro to surrender his ordinary and diplomatic passports expired, it remained unclear whether he had handed them over, though a Brazilian diplomat and President Lula confirmed that Bolsonaro had left the country.
