INTERPOL and WHO sign agreement to strengthen global health and security protection

INTERPOL and the World Health Organization (WHO) have signed a formal cooperation agreement to combat global threats at the intersection of public health and security.

The signed agreement establishes a framework that brings together INTERPOL's expertise in law enforcement and WHO's leadership in public health. This partnership aims to prevent, detect, and provide timely responses to global risks.

INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza and WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus drew attention to the link between crime and health. Areas of cooperation include incidents involving chemical, radioactive, or unusual biological materials, major international events, human trafficking for organ removal, as well as the fight against counterfeit medical products, protective equipment, unsafe foods, and illicit alcohol trade.
