The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) discussed the development of human capital, labor market policies, revisions to balance of payments statistics, and the liquidation process of distressed funds during its eighth meeting of 2026.

In the statement issued following the eighth meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee in 2026, it was stated that war-induced supply shocks and supply chain disruptions in the global economy have increased risks. It was reported that through the implemented economic program, growth has achieved a balanced structure, unemployment and inflation have declined, and fiscal discipline has been established.

At the meeting, policies aimed at strengthening human capital and addressing the needs of the labor market were evaluated. It was recalled that according to the OECD PISA 2025 results, Turkey raised its ranking in all areas and became the only OECD country to increase its performance over the last 10 years. In addition, it was reported that within the framework of green, digital, and demographic transformation, the goal is to increase the supply of qualified labor and encourage the employment of youth and women.

The meeting also addressed the impact of revisions in balance of payments statistics on the net errors and omissions item, as well as the liquidation process of distressed funds. Recalling that the Draft Law aimed at ensuring liquidation processes are carried out fairly, transparently, and under legal security has been adopted by the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee, it was stated that intermediate payments are projected to begin as soon as possible after the draft law is enacted.
