A new systematic review has been published examining the automated acquisition of left ventricular ejection fraction values from adult transthoracic echocardiography images with the aid of artificial intelligence. Left ventricular ejection fraction, a critical measurement in the assessment of heart failure and cardiac function, traditionally requires time-consuming manual tracing.

Conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines and registered on the PROSPERO platform, the review analyzed studies published between January 1, 2015, and September 10, 2026, across the MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and IEEE Xplore databases. The research aims to evaluate the agreement between artificial intelligence-based measurements and expert manual measurements, as well as clinical reference standards such as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
