The inaugural Michigan AI Business Conference, held at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, brought together over 250 students, academics, and industry representatives. Organized by the AI Business Group, the event addressed the integration and future of artificial intelligence in business processes.
Experts from organizations such as Microsoft, Citi, Bank of America, and J.P. Morgan attended the conference. The primary goal of the event was to provide practical experience beyond theoretical knowledge by connecting students with professionals who actively use artificial intelligence in their careers.
Jennifer Marsman, a principal engineer at Microsoft, highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in increasing productivity and explained how the company personalizes user experience through projects like Copilot Checkout. Marsman noted that artificial intelligence is used not only in the business world but also in environmental projects, providing examples of AI-supported systems that track mosquito populations or prevent poaching.
Students attending the event stated that the applications of artificial intelligence in environmental and technical fields changed their perspectives. Some students indicated that after the conference, they decided to shift their career goals toward more technically focused roles.
Assessment: Jennifer Marsman emphasized that despite the conveniences offered by artificial intelligence, the human mind must be kept active. It is considered critical to establish a balance between humans and artificial intelligence in the development of the sector to maintain learning motivation.
