Iran's 7-day plan for the Strait of Hormuz: Communicated to the US
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that they have submitted a 7-day plan to the US via Qatar to normalize maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced at the 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Baghdad that they have conveyed a 7-day plan to the US side through Qatar to resolve security issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi stated that if the necessary conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened and maritime traffic could return to normal within a week. Arguing that the current security problems in the strait stem from attacks by the US and Israel, Araghchi stated that the Islamabad Agreement signed on June 17 could not be implemented due to the US's unilateral steps.
Emphasizing that crises in the region should be resolved through political processes rather than military methods, Araghchi reminded that Brent crude oil was trading at $109.86 as of October 17.
