Minister Şimşek: Turkey has risen to the top ranks in fiscal transparency
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that, according to the IMF's Fiscal Transparency Evaluation report, Turkey has increased its compliance rate and placed among the top ranks.
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek evaluated the results of the Fiscal Transparency Evaluation report published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Şimşek stated that Turkey's performance in areas such as fiscal statistics, budget management, and accountability has improved.
In a statement on his social media account, Minister Şimşek noted that Turkey, which was at a good or advanced level in approximately half of the Fiscal Transparency Code principles in the 2015 evaluation, increased this rate to two-thirds in the current report. With this development, Turkey ranked high among approximately 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Austria, and Portugal.
Şimşek described this result as a reflection of the institutional transformation ongoing for more than 20 years. The Ministry announced that structural reform efforts are ongoing in order to take fiscal transparency even further.
