Under the new regulation prepared within the scope of Law No. 7578, restrictions on social media use for children under the age of 15 are being introduced as of November 1, 2026. Platforms that fail to comply with the rules, which mandate that social network providers perform age verification via e-Devlet, will face severe sanctions.

According to the regulation effective November 1, 2026, social network providers will not be able to offer services to children under 15 and will be required to perform age verification via e-Devlet. While no access restrictions are foreseen for adult users, special rules such as default private accounts, live streaming restrictions, and a ban on personalized advertisements will be implemented for teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18.

Age verification processes for existing accounts must be completed by March 31, 2027. Accounts that are not verified by this date or are determined to belong to individuals under 15 will be closed. Platforms that do not comply with the established rules will face sanctions such as administrative fines based on turnover and bandwidth throttling.
