Number of Completed Structures in Urban Transformation Announced Across Turkey
While the number of independent units made safe against earthquakes across the country has exceeded 2.3 million, the number of residences and workplaces with completed urban transformation in Istanbul has also surpassed 1 million.
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that the urban transformation of 2 million 378 thousand independent units has been completed across Turkey, and that one out of every two urban transformations was carried out in Istanbul.
Turkey-Wide Figures
It was stated by the Directorate of Urban Transformation that a total of 2 million 761 thousand independent units have been included in the scope of transformation nationwide since 2012.
As a result of the efforts, the transformation process of 2 million 378 thousand independent units was successfully completed throughout Turkey.
Transformation Process in Istanbul
While 1 million 298 thousand independent units have been included in the scope of transformation in Istanbul to date, the transformation of 1 million 7 thousand of them has been completed.
It was included in official data that transformation works for 291 thousand independent units are currently ongoing in the megacity.
"Half is on Us" Campaign
It was noted that 544 thousand 564 independent units were included in the process within the scope of the "Half is on Us" campaign implemented to accelerate the process in Istanbul.
Within the framework of the campaign in question, the transformation of 117 thousand 914 independent units has been completed to date.
Financial and Support Conditions
Within the scope of the campaign, 875 thousand TL in grants, 875 thousand TL in loans, and 125 thousand TL in moving support are provided for each residence.
For workplaces, 437 thousand 500 TL in grants, 437 thousand 500 TL in loans, and 125 thousand TL in moving support are offered, while the loans begin two years after obtaining the license.
New Project in Maltepe
Minister Murat Kurum stated that a new transformation project will be initiated for citizens living in and around the collapsed building in Maltepe.
It was reported that citizens' requests will be collected through an office to be opened in the region, and the structures to be built by TOKİ will be delivered within one year.
