28 Ekim 2026 ekonomi gündemi: Ne oldu, ne olacak?

On October 28, 2026, as the BIST 100 index started a half-day session following a flat trading day, TÜİK data showed the September unemployment rate increased to .4 percent, while spot gold traded at the ,063 level.

Global and local markets are entering a busy trading day focused on geopolitical developments and central bank monetary policy decisions. The BIST 100 index completed yesterday's trading day flat with a limited loss of 0.92 points at 11,151.03 points. While a weakening in volume stood out in the trading week shortened due to Republic Day, total trading volume dropped to 90.7 billion TRY, the lowest level recorded since October 21. Analysts anticipate the index to open with a slightly buyers-oriented tendency on the half-day trading session where the closing session for the equity market will take place. Domestic markets will be closed tomorrow due to a full-day official holiday.

According to TÜİK data, Turkey's unemployment rate rose to .4 percent in September with a 0.5 percentage point increase. In the US, September durable goods orders recorded a monthly increase of 1.8 percent, falling slightly short of the 2.0 percent market expectation. Core orders also came in below expectations at 0.5 percent. Following the Fed, the European Central Bank (ECB) tomorrow and the Bank of Japan (BoJ) on Friday will announce their interest rate decisions.

In Asian stock markets, driven by buying on dips in semiconductor and artificial intelligence stocks, South Korea's KOSPI index rose by 3.1 percent and Japan's Nikkei index by 1.7 percent, while Chinese and Hong Kong stock markets diverged negatively. News of an attack on a refinery in Saudi Arabia kept the risk premium alive, pulling Brent crude down to around 1.3.9 levels. Supported by geopolitical tensions and safe-haven demand, spot gold is trading around the ,063 band and spot silver around the 4.5 band.
