How Onalaja Used AI to Rebuild Its London Fashion Week Collection

The studio of London-based fashion brand Onalaja was completely destroyed in a fire in June 2026. Following this disaster, founder and creative director Kanyinsola Onalaja utilized artificial intelligence technologies to meet the deadline for the London Fashion Week show in September.

Fashion designer Kanyinsola Onalaja and her five-person team lost their archives, samples, and custom orders accumulated over more than a decade as a result of the fire at their studio. Racing against time due to the approaching London Fashion Week debut, the team decided to use the Adobe Firefly generative AI toolset to accelerate their design and production processes.

The team leveraged AI to generate different design alternatives, prepare repeatable patterns, and create clear visual briefings for artisans in Nigeria, India, China, and the United Kingdom. Through this integration, the brand managed to reduce sample preparation times and costs while maintaining traditional craftsmanship details. The resulting collection, titled "Born from the Ashes," was presented to fashion enthusiasts at London Fashion Week on September 20, 2026.
