Concordia College, located in Moorhead, has decided to establish a new undergraduate department in artificial intelligence with the aim of preparing students for the modern workforce. Supported by a $3 million grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education, the project is planned to launch as early as the fall of 2027.

While establishing a new department for students wanting to specialize in artificial intelligence, Concordia College in the city of Moorhead also aims to help students across every major adapt to this technology. The $3 million grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education will be distributed over a five-year period and will focus on preparing students for the workforce.

Dr. Susan Larson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Concordia College, stated that they aim to develop a workforce readiness competency framework that deepens and aligns their commitment to liberal arts skills alongside artificial intelligence skills. The university administration hopes that the new artificial intelligence department will begin instruction as early as the fall of 2027.
