Türkiye'den de izlenebilecek: Orionid meteor yağmuru geliyor

One of the most remarkable celestial events of October, the Orionid meteor shower reaches its peak during the night connecting October 21 to October 22. According to NASA and TÜBİTAK data, this celestial event, caused by particles left in Halley's Comet's orbit entering Earth's atmosphere, can be followed from all over Turkey.

According to NASA, the Orionids, which are active between October 2 and November 7, appear to originate from the direction of the constellation Orion in the sky. Ranking among the fastest meteors of the year at a speed of approximately 66 kilometers per second, the particles can produce 10 to 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions. The most significant factor that will make observations difficult this year is pointed out to be the moonlight, which will be in a waxing gibbous phase on October 22. Considering the moonset time and twilight in Istanbul, the time frame between 03:00 and 05:30 stands out as the most suitable period.
