Patient who presented with constipation receives robotic surgery intervention
Meryem İnce was diagnosed with rectal cancer after visiting a hospital with complaints of constipation and abdominal pain. Following chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she regained her health through robotic surgery at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital.
Housewife Meryem İnce learned she had rectal cancer at a healthcare facility she visited due to constipation and abdominal pain that began four months ago. Having undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy during the treatment process, İnce opted for robotic methods for the surgical stage and applied to Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital.
As a result of detailed evaluations conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orçun Yalav and Lecturer Dr. İshak Aydın at the General Surgery Clinic, it was determined that the patient was a suitable candidate for robotic rectal cancer surgery. Following the successful operation, İnce was admitted to the ward without the need for intensive care and began walking the next day.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orçun Yalav, who performed the surgery, emphasized that robotic surgery minimizes tissue trauma with small incisions. Yalav stated that thanks to this method, patients can generally be discharged in as little as 3-4 days.
