Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made sharp remarks against the opposition Congress party at the opening of the NDTV World Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Without directly naming him, Modi, alluding to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, claimed that Congress was risking the country's interests to launch a "failed product."

Prime Minister Modi stated in his speech that the world is searching for a new order and noted that certain factions dream of disorder in India. Describing the Congress Party as a "parasite," Modi alleged that the party has been trying to tarnish the country's achievements and reputation abroad after losing power.

Modi argued that Congress has suppressed the voices of young and talented MPs within its own ranks and obstructed the functioning of parliament to foreground a single individual. The Prime Minister claimed that the party has been ideologically hijacked by "mental Naxalites," which has led to the party losing its own capacity for thought.
