According to the report presented by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung at the 2nd Session of the 16th National Assembly, significant progress was achieved in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in Vietnam in 2026, alongside positive developments in addressing national issues.

According to the Socio-Economic Report, progress was made on 1,932 out of 2,011 tasks (96.1%) under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, with 1,326 tasks (66.1%) completed. Three percent of state budget expenditures were allocated to science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

To address bottlenecks in digital transformation, a 100-day plan was actively implemented, while Project 06 provided practical benefits to individuals and businesses. The VNeID application became the primary digital communication channel between citizens and state administrative agencies, offering 85 services, integrating over 40 million electronic health records, and saving approximately 3 trillion VND in social costs annually.

According to data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Vietnam rose one spot to rank 43rd among 139 countries and economies in the 2026 Global Innovation Index. The country also held a leading global position in high-tech exports and the proportion of innovative product exports in total merchandise trade.
