Cyber Security Specialist Osman Demircan warned that as the November 1 regulation date approaches, cyber fraudsters could launch a new wave of fraud using scenarios themed around the closure of social media accounts.

Cyber Security Specialist Osman Demircan stated that despite the regulation taking effect, a verification period for existing accounts is foreseen until March 31, 2027, and claims of immediate closure are an urban legend. It was emphasized that attackers could create panic and time pressure to sell fake solutions and request e-Government passwords or SMS codes.

It was stated that if device control is seized, severe disaster scenarios such as the emptying of bank accounts could be encountered. It was noted that individuals who accidentally share information or click on a fake link should turn off their internet within the first 5 minutes, contact their banks, and change their passwords.
